Fire Island Animal Welfare Society Hosting Virtual Wine Event to Replace Annual Fundraiser Canceled by COVID-19

Mark your calendars for Nov. 1 from 4-5pm to enjoy the pleasure of wine in the comfort of your own home while benefiting a good cause. Kerry Menger of Scout & Cellar Clean-Crafted Wine will be hosting a virtual wine event to benefit the Fire Island Animal Welfare Society.

The annual Fire Island Animal Welfare Society fundraiser couldn’t happen this year due to COVID-19, so a portion of the proceeds of this event will go to the organization. Any donations are welcome, too. The event will benefit animals living on Fire Island, especially in the communities of Ocean Beach, Corneille Estates, Summer Club, and Robbins Rest.

“Without that revenue, there is no money for animal food or medical bills to care for the island’s resident animals over the winter,” John McCollum, president of FIAWS, said of the cancelation of the fundraiser.

To join, participants had to have registered and placed their wine orders for the tasting by Oct. 16 in order for the wine to get to them in time. The “Scout Sampler Pack” is $32, plus tax and shipping. Orders over $99 get free shipping.
