Fire Island Beach House Hotel in Ocean Bay Park Opens June 25

Posted on June 30, 2020 by admin in Fire Island News

The former Fire Island Hotel has been newly renovated and has now become the Fire Island Beach House. Located at 25 Cayuga Street in Ocean Bay Park, the new Fire Island hot spot opened on June 25.

Owner George Breres and his team, some with previous experience running hotels in Montauk, saw the opportunity to update the Fire Island Hotel but their plans were delayed due to COVID-19. Breres bought the hotel in January after eyeing the place from his home on the same street.

“We saw some opportunity there, saw that Ed who was there for — I wanna say — 29 years he owned the place, he had been doing a lot on his own with updating and upkeep,” Breres told Greater Long Island about the previous owner. “We would go there and say this place could be awesome.”

The 41-room hotel offers a selection of king standard rooms and two queen standard rooms. For those who desire more space, beach lounge suites, suites, beach bungalows, and duplex beach cabins are available.

Breres said of the renovations, “Every room got touched in some way. 19 out of the 40 rooms are going to have brand new bathrooms as well.”

Preventative measures will be taken in response to the Coronavirus, such as social distancing guidelines, sanitizing stations in the common areas of the hotel, and guests having the option of getting their temperatures checked when they arrive.
