Fire Island Boatel is Newest Hotel in Fire Island’s Kismet

Posted on July 6, 2021 by admin in Fire Island News

A newly-renovated hotel called Boatel is taking reservations this summer, located on the westernmost beachfront community of Fire Island’s Kismet.

Boatel offers ten suites, one premium suite and the rest standard suites, with views of Fire Island Inlet Bridge and the Fire Island Lighthouse. Both the standard and premium suites can sleep up to four guests, while the premium suite offers a 400-square-foot porch with seating.

“It’s extremely relaxing, the views are unmatched anywhere — you see the lighthouse, the bridge, the Great South Bay, you watch the boats go back and forth,” Boatel co-owner Eddie Major told Greater Long Island.

“If you’re on the bayside, the private decks are covered so you’re in the shade, and if you want to sit in the sun, you take a few steps off your deck into the sand.”

Major opened Boatel with his brother Paul and another partner, Dwayne Diesu. All three have homes on Fire Island’s Kismet and eyed this historical property for years before taking steps to open it in July 2020. The hotel used to be Dominy House, the first-ever Fire Island hotel.

Boatel officially opened its doors to guests on April 29.
