Posted on June 22, 2018 by admin in Fire Island News

We always knew Fire Island’s natural beauty and renowned beaches placed the island among the top vacation destinations, but a new poll has solidified the barrier island’s spot as the best beach destination in the state.

USA Today’s 2018 Readers’ Choice rankings have revealed that readers chose Fire Island National Seashore as the No .1 rated beach in New York State. Our beaches are operated by the National Park Service out of Patchogue.

“Visitors to Fire Island National Seashore have 32 miles of white quartz sand beaches to choose from,” USA Today wrote. “When not sunbathing or swimming, park goers will find numerous nature trails for hiking and wildlife viewing as well.”

Out of the top 10 beaches, six of them were on Long Island. Here’s the full list:

10) Green Lakes State Park – Fayettevill
