Fire Island’s Fair Harbor Fire Department Auctioning Off Used Fire Truck

Fire Island’s Fair Harbor Fire Department is auctioning off a used fire truck from their department, which is still working, with the proceeds going towards new equipment for the department.

Those looking to buy a piece of Fire Island history can participate in the auction, which began on July 18 and ends on Aug 1. The starting bid was $1,000.

The truck is a 2001 International Saulsbury 4×4 hose wagon with hydraulics. It also has only 5736 miles on it and 533 hours on truck. The truck is pick-up only, and the highest bidder can inspect it if they wish.

The department will buy equipment such as new fire suits for the fire fighters, new hoses to use and other equipment needed for the department to operate.

The fire truck up for auction was recently replaced with a new vehicle.
