Lighthouse Preservation Society Teams Up with Local Breweries to Create a Craft IPA

Posted on March 1, 2021 by admin in Fire Island News

For the second year in a row, the Lighthouse Preservation Society has teamed up with local breweries to create a craft IPA called Light-Haus Keepers Craft.

Fire Island’s Lighthouse Preservation Society teamed up with 27A Brewing Co., Destination Unknown Brewing Co., Secatogue Brewing Co., and Spiderbrite Beer to create a beer that is available for purchase in all four breweries. A portion of the proceeds of Light-Haus Keepers Craft beer sales go to the Lighthouse Preservation Society.

This winter’s launch looked much different due to the Coronavirus, with the beer tasting taking place virtually instead. The beer is brewed from Long Island experimental hops X07, from craft master hops in Mattituck and Citra Hops.

“The great thing is this event helps keep our name alive,” said Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society Executive Director Tony Femminella. “It’s been a difficult year for all our programs with mandated limits on visitor capacity and closure of our main boardwalk for access during this pandemic crisis. But like everyone else we are soldiering on.”

The beer is also being sold at local restaurants Tullulah’s of Bay Shore, Sayville Athletic Club, Great South Bar in Patchogue, and Swell Taco in both Babylon and Patchogue Village.

Now, more than ever, buying a Fire Island beach house is a considerable investment which can bring family memories for years to come. For over 40 years William J Newman Realty has had the pleasure of servicing the west end of Fire Island, helping families enjoy this special barrier beach destination.
