Mexican Restaurant Castaway Moves Locations in Ocean Beach on Fire Island

Posted on May 5, 2021 by admin in Fire Island News

Mexican restaurant Castaway Bar & Grill, located at 310 Bay Walk, marked its 15th anniversary by moving to 927 Evergreen Walk, where Bocce Beach was located for three decades. The restaurant officially moved locations on April 15.

In addition to moving Castaway, the restaurant’s owner Jon Randazzo will open another Mexican restaurant in its old location called Taco Beach. Taco Beach will open mid-May.

Randazzo told Greater Bayshore, “[Castaway] was the third business I ever opened and my first restaurant. To better serve the community out there, I thought it would be better to grow the Castaway brand that already has such a good name with all the people out there.”

The new and improved Castaway has more indoor dining capacity for guests, triple the amount to be exact, and it’s completely renovated.

“We’ve really brightened it up. We’ve added some pops of color. It looks really tropical and I think people are really going to enjoy the new vibe,” he said. “We’re trying to keep some of the old Bocce charm and even the employees too. We offered them a job to work at Castaway. That’s all very important out there.”

Now, more than ever, buying a Fire Island beach house is a considerable investment which can bring family memories for years to come.
