Sites For ‘Glamping’ Now Available on Fire Island’s Watch Hill

Posted on August 30, 2019 by admin in Fire Island News

Glamping, or glamorous camping, offers the best of both worlds of the modern amenities we’re used to and the beautiful landscape of the great outdoors. Fire Island has joined in on this popular vacation pastime, offering Glamping on Watch Hill, which is the only federally designated wilderness in New York State.

LoveFINS, operated by husband and wife Doug and Lee Biviano, currently have four Glamping sites open with the possibility of more in the future.

“This has been the latest trend in the outdoors, elevated camping, or glamorous camping,” Doug Biviano told Greater Patchogue. They “thought it would be tremendous on Fire Island, where lodging is very limited. On Fire Island you’re very limited to expensive weekly rentals or the very few hotels that, again, are very, very expensive.”

The Glamping sites have 14 x 16 ft tents, equipped with two queen beds and up to two cots if requested, and one of the sites has a 12 x 14 ft tent with one queen bed, a day bed and up to two cots. Up to two dogs are permitted for a $10 per night cleaning fee.

This is the first season these Glamping sites were made available at Watch Hill, part of the Otis Pike High Dunes Wilderness. Watch Hill is accessible by the Watch Hill Ferry, which departs from just across the Great South Bay in Patchogue.

After taking the Fire Island ferry over, we invite you to visit William J. Newman Realty.
