‘SNL’ Star Bowen Yang Cast in Romantic Comedy ‘Fire Island’

‘Saturday Night Live’ star Bowen Yang has been cast alongside Joel Kim Booster in the modern romantic comedy ‘Fire Island,’ inspired by Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice.’

The film is set in Fire Island Pines, with filming set to begin this summer in both Fire Island and New York City. It will be directed by Andrew Ahn, known for the films ‘Spa Night’ and ‘Driveways.’

Yang and Booster, a stand-up comedian, will star as best friends who vacation on Fire Island for a week in the summer. It will be released on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.

The film is described by Variety as a vacation on Fire Island, “the historic gay escape off the southern shore of Long Island — with the help of cheap rosé and a cadre of eclectic friends.”
