Fire Island School District Members Honored at SCOPE Education Services Event
Four members of the Fire Island School District, with a combined eight decades of experience, were awarded for their achievements during this year’s SCOPE Education Services’ 16th annual School District Awards Dinner.
Veteran teacher Karen McNulty was presented the Teacher Service Award, veteran paraprofessional Dawn Lippert received the Support Service Award, veteran Woodhull PTA member and past president Tara Heslin was given the Community Service Award, and current Fire Island Board of Education vice president Vernon Henriksen received the Board Service Award.
Scope Education Services has provided programs to schools in Long Island since 1964 as a Board of Regents chartered organization. The organization creates programs for children, parents, community members and professional educators amongst Long Island’s School Districts, in order to help solve issues in education and meet educational needs in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
The SCOPE Education Services awards dinner is intended to showcase the contributions members give to the Long Island school districts each year. The honorees are chosen after being nominated by their individual superintendents. Congratulations to Fire Island’s Karen McNulty, Dawn Lippert, Tara Heslin and Vernon Henriksen!
